Palo Santo (Bursera Graveolens) is a native tree that inhabits the tropical forests on the coast of South America.
This tree has been used by indigenous people for centuries.
For many years, Palo Santo was harvested by deforestation which had negative environmental effects. It also reduced local people’s sources of income.
But Palo Santo can be harvested without removing trees and today it is available in different forms such as wood, resin and essential oil.
When Palo Santo wood is burnt as incense, the smoke gives off a beautiful, unique, aromatic scent. This smoke is said to purify and cleanse negative energy and can be extremely soothing and also bring luck.
We only buy Palo Santo that has been ethically and sustainably sourced as this helps support the preservation of the tree, regenerate the forests, support eco-projects and the livelihood of the native people.
Therefore, only branches and trunks that have naturally fallen are collected, without cutting down any living trees, damaging the surrounding area or making new paths.
Our sticks are sourced from Peru and are approximately 4inches (10cm).
Simply light one Palo Santo stick, allow to burn for 30 seconds to a minute, then carefully blow it out. Use the smoke to cleanse the energy.
